Pro Golf, written by Edward Smith, was the first manual I created that didn’t mimic the design of a former videogame company. This was the third manual that I did for Michael Thomasson of Homebrew Heaven so I used the Odyssey2 template that I created for Ralph Baer’s Pinball. I worked closely with Edward Smith to make sure it was written to his satisfaction. Page-wise, this is the longest manual I have designed.
The printed manual should have been the same dimensions as the two Odyssey2 manuals that I did. For some reason the printer couldn’t accommodate it and so it had to be redesigned as 5″ x 4.25″. Although it was published in full color on high-quality stock, I wasn’t happy with the end result. It was just too small, especially the screen shots. Had it been printed at 6.5″ x 4 5/8″ as it was intended, this would probably be my favorite. The manual here is presented in its original size.
